Bamboomoves needs you! (this Sunday!)

So, we really need your help! As most of you know, the Forest Hills Street Fair is taking place this Saturday, October 4th. Like last year, we will have booths along Austin street, and like last year, we need your help in manning them. It looks like Sunday will be a pretty nice day for the outdoors, and ya'all know working with us is fun... so if you are free, please give us a call (718.263.0788) and sign up to volunteer. We will need people from 7:30am on to help us out with yoga demos, signing up new students and selling our retail items. It promises to be an exciting (and very busy) day and we would love it if you were there to share it with us!

Composting in the City.

Our composting workshop this weekend was very awesome and very informative. Thank you to everyone who made it out... and for those of you who couldn't make it, here's some composting (in the city) information for you.

While the science of decomposition can be quite complex, starting your own compost pile is relatively easy. The NYC Compost Project has put together practical information on all aspects of composting in New York City, including basic guides for people who are just getting started, closer looks at various composting issues, and information geared to professional landscapers. Click here to get started.

So Delicious...

We've said it before on this blog... we love dessert here... especially vegan dessert. In searching for non-dairy milk to dip our favourite vegan cookies in, I found So Delicious® Coconut Milk. It is... so delicious... and it is certified vegan.

Yoga gear by Victoria Keen.

This morning Jen, our kids yoga instructor, came into the studio rocking some very bright, playful yoga pants... immediately I thought, 'must post on blog!' (Well, after first thinking, 'must buy a pair for myself!')

It turns out the pants were from a local New York designer, Victoria Keen, who has a store at 357 Lafayette (in Manhattan) and has everything made stateside (points!!).

Perhaps a holiday gift for the fashionable yogini in your life? Or for yourself?

Tegu Building Blocks.

Every year I promise myself that I am going to get all my Christmas/Hanukkah/Kwanzaa/Insert- Winter-Holiday-Here shopping done early... And every year the holidays roll around and I still don't have all my gifts. I am naturally more of a 'give-a-gift-when-the-spirit-moves-you' kind of girl, but still, I like giving gifts on holidays too. It's fun.

So, it's September... and this year I vow, with all of you as my witnesses, to start my holiday shopping early and be done on time... and I'd like to help you get your shopping done too...

Yesterday, with the help of the Substudio Design Blog, I discovered Tegu building blocks. Tegu has revamped traditional wooden building blocks, adding magnets, to make building more creative and exciting for kids. And not only are their blocks fun and well designed, but Tegu is also a socially and environmentally responsible company. Check them out.

I wouldn't mind receiving these blocks as a gift myself. hehe.

Vegan deliciousness.

Stogo, yum.

Labour day is like the last hurrah for summer... and what is a hurrah without dessert? Now, here at Bamboomoves, we like to keep it healthy and we love, love, love vegan desserts. If you find yourself in the east village this weekend, I highly recommend checking out Stogo for some vegan gourmet ice cream. It's made with organic, dairy-free ingredients, with no refined sugars, no animal products, no preservatives and no artificial flavorings. They also sell Babycakes baked goods...

If you don't feel like making the trip to Stogo, go to the grocery store and pick up a bag of Uncle Eddie's Vegan Chocolate Chip Cookies with Walnuts... We still can't believe they are vegan.

And please remember... Our last class tomorrow (Saturday) is at 11:30 and then we are closed Sunday and Monday for the holiday weekend.

Have a good one everybody... see you next week!
